Eighty Eight VIP Launch

Thursday the 7th of October saw the former La Cornu Site, a vacant space lying in wait for over 30-years, come to life with the VIP Launch of Eight Eight O’Connell.

North Adelaide looked its absolute best in the early evening light, with 500 guests treated to symphony music upon arrival, live-art waiters serving freshly shucked oysters, a wine and gin bar and delicious food featuring South Australian produce. The outdoor alfresco area allowed guests to enjoy the afternoon sunshine and soak in the North Adelaide atmosphere. 

The evening opened with a Welcome to Country speech from Cliffy Wilson, followed by The Hon Steven Marshall MP, Premier of South Australia who was welcomed on stage by our emcee David Penberthy.  

The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of Adelaide Sandy Verschoor, Commercial & General’s Executive Chairman Jamie McClurg and Woods Bagot principal Rosina Di Maria, were then part of a live panel interview discussing the many aspects of Eighty Eight O’Connell that make this project significant and how a focus on quality is underlining every decision. 

As North Adelaide residents themselves, both Jamie and Rosina were particularly eager to talk about the importance of Eighty-Eight O’Connell on a personal level as well as part of a shared sense of responsibility to their community. 

To conclude the official proceedings, guests enjoyed a viewing of the Eighty Eight O’Connell film projected on a long curved screen, giving guests a cinematic experience before being welcomed through the new fully-furnished two-bedroom display suite.
